banarasi

The city of Varanasi has woven stories in silk for over five centuries — and every Banarasi saree in our collection carries that legacy forward, thread by thread. At Vidhi Singhania, we work directly with master weavers on the ghats of Banaras to create Banarasi sarees that are as much heirloom as they are wardrobe.

Our Banarasi collection spans the full breadth of the tradition: Banarasi Katan Silk sarees with dense, lustrous weaves and intricate zari jaal; Banarasi Dupion Silk with its characteristic slub texture and rich sheen; Banarasi Satin in fluid ombré designs; and Banarasi Georgette for those who prefer weightless drape without sacrificing the weave. Each fabric is chosen to suit a different woman, a different season, a different occasion.

The motifs we draw from are the vocabulary of Banarasi weaving itself — Mughal jaal, kairi buti, shikargah, meenakari, tanchoi, and kadwa weaves, each produced on a handloom with the precision that only a lifetime of craft can produce. Many of our sarees feature silver and gold zari that meets the BIS hallmark standard for purity.
