Banarasi Satin is the most fluid of all Banarasi weaves — its surface smooth and light-catching in a way that differs fundamentally from the structured body of Katan Silk. In this saree, that fluid quality is set against an all-over tropical leaf jaal woven in zari: large, confident leaf forms in a geometric lattice that gives the piece a distinctly contemporary graphic energy. Manushi Chhillar chose it for its ability to feel both deeply traditional — rooted in Banarasi craft — and completely of the moment.

The tropical leaf jaal in this saree is woven directly into the Banarasi Satin ground using traditional pit loom technique in Varanasi. The large-scale repeat of the leaf motif gives this saree a boldness unusual in Banarasi weaving, which more commonly works in smaller, finer repeats — making it a distinctive choice for someone who wants their saree to read clearly and confidently from across a room.
